THE CLUB

Shetland Land Rover Club Ltd. was formed in 1995 and has blossomed into an active Club with around 50 members. With a variety of events held throughout the calendar year Land Rover owners have plenty of scope for fun.

We are members of the Motor Sports Association and are also affiliated to the Shetland Emergency Plan providing logistical support when needed whatever the weather.

TRIALS

We hold around seven RTV trials during the summer months on sites around the isles but are always on the lookout for more. We cater for both LWB and SWB and the Taylor Trophy is awarded annually to the top trialler of the year. Additionally we hold a series of TYRO trials, especially popular with our younger members.

HILL RUN

The locally famous Hill Run is a must for the enthusiast as we forge our own path through the hill land (with the owner’s permission) the trip usually degenerating into a fight to extract the vehicles! A recent introduction is the Shetland Trek, a less extreme version of the hill run suitable for all types of precious vehicles but still exploring the wilder parts of the islands.

CLUB NIGHTS

With the onset of the long nights the Club moves indoors and holds a monthly club night. Activities include video nights, quizzes and technical evenings.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Also during the winter months we hold navigation rallies usually preceded by lunch at some watering hole. Summer beach parties and more food stops gather a good crowd and we join bi-annually with The Classic Car and Bike Clubs at the Classic Car Show held in and around the Clickimin Centre in Lerwick.

MAGAZINE

The Club produces the magazine Northern Torque regularly throughout the year which keeps members in touch with events and news, both Land Rover and other. ‘For sale and wanted’ adds help in the redistribution of scrap, oops, I mean useful parts and vehicles.
